Knitwear for Interiors; Bradford Competition

These are the boards I created for the Bradford Competition;

This collection was initially influenced by Lucienne Day; I started by looking at her previous work and her classic collection of prints. After collecting examples of her work and sketching my own ideas down I was really excited to start working with the knitting machines.

Lost in Lace

Lost in Lace is an exhibition in Birmingham which draws attention to the themes explored and created throughout cultural associations of lace.

The exhibition was really inspiring and some of the pieces where extremely beautiful and meaningful, I really loved looking into the meanings of the lace designs which the artists put together about each piece.

Here are some of my favourite pieces created by a selection of international textiles based artists...

This my favourite piece from the exhibition by Michael Brennand-Wood
This is a piece of "Military Lace" symbolizing war and conflict, the imagery draws attention to lace, weaponry and  Rorschach test. I find the piece very interesting, the overall look is very intricate and intense which is something that really intrigued me to look more closely at the images being put together.
